Interim Champion Chelsea Green Dreams of Facing Rhea Ripley in WWE Soon

August 23, 2026

The story was writing itself all on its own.

On her swift return from injury, Rhea Ripley was slated to face the interim champion. But with the operation she underwent at the start of the month, her recovery is going to be extended. WWE hopes to see her back by autumn, although some reports indicate that such an injury could keep her away from the rings until early 2027. Will Chelsea Green be able to hold onto her title until then, and thus face one of her idols? On the ETalk show, the WWE interim women’s champion spoke about her desire to face the Australian as soon as she returns.

She states:

“It’s been 13 years that I’ve been thinking about who would be the opponent of my dreams, but I think it’s only fair to say: Rhea Ripley. Since I’m technically the interim WWE Women’s Champion, you see, and Rhea Ripley is WWE’s Women’s Champion, I think we should face off to clinch a title that could well become permanent.”

But before planning this dream match, the Canadian must prepare to defend her title very soon… Do you think Chelsea Green has what it takes to retain her belt for several months?
