Is Eddie Kingston Ready to Return One Week After Injury?

AEW had previously decided to pull Eddie Kingston from the Continental Challenge Cup due to an injury, but it now appears he is ready to step back into the ring.

Indeed, CMLL confirmed once again this week that Eddie Kingston will take part in their show on August 28, 2026. He will face the CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Hechicero for the occasion.

CMLL had already announced Eddie Kingston before the AEW injury announcement of August 21, 2026, but even today the company continues to promote him. We only have to wait for the CMLL show on August 28 to see whether Eddie Kingston will truly be present or if there will be a storyline involving his withdrawal from the event.

If Eddie Kingston is indeed back in action, the withdrawal from the Continental Challenge tournament due to an injury would be peculiar.
