Ilja Dragunov left WWE this month after his contract expired and he chose not to renew it. A talent as gifted as Dragunov has a strong likelihood of landing with AEW, but nothing has been confirmed yet. AEW president Tony Khan has merely described him as an “exceptional wrestler”.
According to WrestleVotes, Dragunov’s absence from WWE is unlikely to be brief. The outlet reports that several people within the company do not view Dragunov’s departure as a short disappearance similar to Baron Corbin, who had been away for less than two years before his return.
According to these WWE staffers, Ilja Dragunov would indeed be done with WWE for some time.
