After eight years in office, Kane, also known as Glenn Jacobs, is concluding his term as mayor of Knox County in Tennessee, United States.
Kane officially began his mayoral career in 2018 after being elected for the first time. This development led him to scale back his WWE appearances for the remainder of his contract.
In 2022, he was reelected to a second term, and the law prohibits him from running for a third consecutive term. Therefore, his role as mayor officially ends on September 1, 2026.
A Successful Tenure
In an interview with local media outlet WATE, Kane said he is satisfied with the role and the impact he has had as mayor. He stated that he left the county in a better state than when he arrived:
“Ultimately, what defines a mayor is: Have you left your community in a better condition than at your arrival?” Overall, I think that is true for me. Knox County was already a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. I hope that by working together we’ve made it even better than eight years ago. Thank you for allowing me to contribute, even modestly.”
During his eight years in office, he managed to freeze property taxes for residents through prudent budgeting. He oversaw the construction of three new schools and raised teachers’ salaries in the county with the SchoolMania program. He also led to the creation of more than 2,500 jobs in the county, in addition to launching the stadium project in downtown.
A Return to the WWE Ring?

Kane’s last match in WWE or anywhere else dates back to January 2021 at the Royal Rumble, where he made a one-night appearance.
His mayoral duties keep him busy full-time. It’s worth noting that he is now 59 years old. The chances of seeing him back in a wrestling ring are slim; there have already been rumors that he might pursue politics at a higher level after reportedly receiving congratulations from former U.S. President Donald Trump.
The next updates will be worth watching.
