After his excellent reign as the undisputed champion, CM Punk opens up.
For 67 days, the veteran managed to entertain the crowd with the promotion’s most prestigious belt. Last night on SmackDown, the Chicago native could not leave Mexico City with the win, against a tenacious Sami Zayn. The day after losing the title, the former world champion opened up emotionally on social media.
He states:
« I lost. After 67 days as the undisputed champion, at 47 years old. I’d like to say I did it on purpose for my guy [Je’Von Evans], but nobody wants to lose.
Here’s the thing: winners lose far more often than losers. I’m not obliged to try again: I have the opportunity to try again. I wasn’t required to come to Mexico, I wasn’t required to do house shows, but I have the chance to do it. I have the chance to wrestle in front of the best fans in the world in Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico.
I’m not obliged to reclaim the title: I have the opportunity to try to reclaim it. I’m not obliged to come to work: I have the chance to come to work. So I’ll see you in Corpus Christi. I will reclaim MY title. You’re not obliged to watch: you have the chance to do so.”
The announcement is made: CM Punk will not take a break after his defeat. He will be there starting with SmackDown on September 18 to attempt to reclaim his title.
