This month, the color pink is making its mark on our minds.
Breast cancer affects about one in eight women during their lifetime, and October’s awareness efforts are crucial for prevention. Jade Cargill is deeply involved in this cause: she is sporting pink hair in support of her mother, who passed away from cancer. On Instagram, the former world champion shared a poignant message.
She states:
“ My mother lost her battle with cancer, so this month holds a very personal meaning for me. I’m going to go pink in her honor. I was nervous about doing this. I’m not a big fan of change, but here we are.
This month, I want to invite everyone to join me. Dye your hair pink, wear pink, share your story, support the women around you, and keep talking about it.
Let us pay tribute to those who fight. Let us celebrate those who have survived. Let us remember those we have lost. Happy Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Let’s make the world pink.”
