Summary of WWE SmackDown on October 9, 2026
WWE SmackDown Lafayette, Louisiana
The commentators were Michael Cole and Corey Graves. The French-language announcers were Christophe Agius and Nadir Mohammedi.
– Tonight it’s WWE SmackDown, the blue brand kicks off with a backstage discussion between Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis. Then, as the two general managers argued, Bron Breakker and Trick Williams arrived to confront them. A match between the two champions was made official… It’s going to heat up!
– CM Punk makes his entrance to the fans’ delight. For the 3rd time in his career, the Chicago native could become Mister Money in the Bank… An unprecedented moment. He stares at the briefcase hanging atop the stage before speaking. The veteran references his past victories in 2008 and 2009. At 47 years old, he believes he can still capture that contract. Then Punk talked about all his rivals in the ladder match tomorrow at Money in the Bank. While he spoke of his longtime rival Kevin Owens, the latter came out to cut him off.
– The Canadian states that nobody wants to see CM Punk win this briefcase and become WWE Champion. He will do everything to derail his rival’s victory. The former champion says Owens has no faith in himself. The two men climbed to the top of two ladders placed in the center of the ring, before Sami Zayn arrived at the mention of his name. He is there to remind everyone that he remains WWE Champion and that he deserves respect. According to Sami, neither Punk nor Owens will be able to take his title. The confrontation ends there.
6-Woman Tag Team Match
Jacy Jayne, Tiffany Stratton & Lash Legend vs Roxanne Perez, Sol Ruca and Lola Vice
These six wrestlers don’t get along but will have to team up. From the opening bell, Lola and Sol refused to tag with Roxanne. Even though their ladder match is less than 24 hours away, these women didn’t hold back this Friday in Lafayette. By the end of the bout, Sol Ruca delivered a Sol Snatcher accidentally on Lola Vice. Lash Legend took advantage to hit her Lash Extension to give the victory to her team. Trick Williams’ partner attacked her teammates Tiffany Stratton and Jacy Jayne before leaving the arena.
Winners: Jacy Jayne, Tiffany Stratton & Lash Legend
– Chelsea Green spoke on the mic to Cathy Kelly, interrupted shortly after by Nikki Bella. The veteran wants this belt. But as the two wrestlers argued, a brutal backstage assault occurred. Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab viciously attacked Charlotte Flair. Will the Queen be able to compete tonight in her championship match against Fatal Influence?
– Doctors state that Charlotte will not be able to wrestle tonight: Nick Aldis does not want to take any risks. So, Alexa Bliss will take her place against Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid, in order to team with Tatum Paxley
Tag Team Match
MFT (Tama Tonga & Talla Tonga) vs War Raiders (Erik & Ivar)
Accompanied by their leader Haku, the tag team champions Talla and Tama Tonga faced a solid duo on SmackDown. Bakusai, the team consisting of Kyoki and Nakamura, arrived to distract their rivals. Despite the presence of the Japanese duo, the MFTs emerged victorious this Friday. A brawl broke out after the match.
Winners: MFT
– While Finn Balor was demanding a match against Gunther tonight in Louisiana, Nick Aldis revealed that the Ring General had requested a match against Danhausen. Discouraged knowing this bout seemed like a sure loss, the creature heads toward the ring…
– Before the show, Randy Orton arrived to enter the arena, but Nick Aldis warned the viper: after his actions last week, he doesn’t want him on SmackDown. The veteran blames Cody Rhodes and insists that his rival will never have the guts to attack him.
– The Miz and Kit Wilson arrived on the blue brand. The former Intercontinental Champion is looking for a celebration for his 20-year WWE career. Cody Rhodes stepped in to get rid of the two clowns. The Atlanta native intended to speak, before Nick Aldis interrupted him. The manager wants to settle this matter in his office, but Cody refuses: he wants to settle the Orton case in front of the Lafayette crowd. Rhodes still intends to keep the Legend Killer out of action.
– Damian Priest speaks backstage, the former member of Judgement Day is furious for losing so much time with R-Truth. He wants to return to the top. He targeted Nathan Frazer and Axiom, before R-Truth appeared to attack his old ally.
– Gunther has gone from a match against John Cena in December to a showdown with Danhausen ten months later… In the end, the match never even started, and it turned into a barrage of beatings. Between armlocks and powerbombs, the Ring General punished his opponent. But Finn Balor stepped in to attack the Austrian. He was forced to retreat, escaping through the crowd. Yet while Finn checked on Danhausen, Gunther slipped in from behind to brutalize the Irishman, and demolish him on the announcers’ table. Officials tried to intervene, to no avail.
– Sami Zayn complains about the lack of respect he has received from Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae. But Bron Breakker arrived to confront the WWE Champion. The Vision member wants this world title, and declares that he and Sami will meet very soon…

After the backstage attack at the start of the show, all wrestlers were banished from the ring vicinity (including Jacy Jayne). Tatum and Alexa started the match strong, though the champions soon took the lead. But as the Fatal Influence duo attempted to cheat, their cheating backfired. Tatum Paxley delivered her Cemetery Drive on Fallon Henley for the victory. The titles change hands!
