It’s certain that in a few weeks, we will see Penta crowned world champion.
Since joining WWE, it has been his main objective. And since he earned that briefcase, the luchador has inched closer to that dream. For months, Rusev and Penta have faced off many times on RAW, particularly around the Intercontinental title. What isn’t known is that the Bulgarian respects Rey Fenix’s brother a lot outside the ring. Invited to TMZ Sports, the former United States Champion said he would be thrilled to see Penta crowned world champion in WWE.
He states :
« I have been a fan of Penta since the AEW era. And CJ [Rusev’s partner] can confirm it: as soon as I returned after one or two shows, I was there, I praised the merits of these two guys, the Lucha Bros, because they were simply incredible. They look like life-sized figurines, and Penta was really cool. He looked like a Mortal Kombat character. Yes, by the way, he embodied that character at a WrestleMania edition.»
« I think he deserves it 100% to be world champion. I love working with Penta. I love kicking his butt. I know how entertaining he is and how cool he is. I am therefore a big fan of his. If he becomes champion, I will be more than happy for him and for the industry in general, simply because it would be good for the industry. Yeah, a guy like him as champion…»
« And on top of that, he’s a great guy. He helps so many children in Mexico. You have no idea, because he doesn’t talk about it. But privately, he has helped tons of orphans and homeless people. He buys them whole trucks of toys and comes to aid these children. He’s a wonderful guy. It’s really amazing. People should get to know him. They would really love him as a person.»
But for now, Mister Money in the Bank is quite busy. Penta will face the Vision in a tag team match tonight on RAW, and will even be present on NXT this Wednesday to face Vanity Project. As for Rusev, we haven’t seen him on WWE screens since his loss to Je’Von Evans last July. His return seems imminent.
