AEW has announced its special editions titled ‘New Year’s Smash’.
This year, AEW Dynamite will be broadcast live on Friday, January 1, 2027 under the New Year’s Smash theme. And AEW Collision on Saturday, January 2, 2027 will also be broadcast live under the New Year’s Smash theme.
Both shows will take place at the Gateway Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. As the schedule grid is not available until the end of December, it is currently impossible to confirm why AEW chose not to air any Dynamite in its usual Wednesday timeslot of December 30. This is information to be confirmed soon.
In any case, AEW confirms that both shows will be broadcast live. The start time for both shows remains to be confirmed, making it impossible to know whether it will clash head-to-head with SmackDown.
New Year’s Smash is the thematic week through which AEW seeks to start the year with new rivalries and fresh storylines. It is currently too early to know the lineup.
