Before becoming The American Nightmare, Cody embodied the peculiar character of “Stardust”. A gimmick that was difficult for Dusty Rhodes’ son, who wanted to leave his mark on the company… With this strange alter ego, things looked set to be tricky. Invited to the Double Coverage podcast, the former Undisputed WWE Champion revisited that difficult period.

“The only area where I told myself, that, I can’t get over that. I can’t overcome it directly. I have to take a different path—that was Stardust. Hmm, and this Stardust was, unfortunately, utterly dark. From time to time, someone tries to ask me a question and make fun of Stardust. And I always tell them something like: “Well, that was the worst period of my life.” But yeah, I mean, I don’t think they realize that if it entertained you, so be it. I tried. We worked hard.”
Since 2024, Cody Rhodes has been one of WWE’s faces.
