Today, NJPW held its King Of Pro-Wrestling show at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.
In the main event, Yota Tsuji retained his IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Ryohei Oiwa after a fine 35-minute battle. After the match, Yota Tsuji celebrated, but he was interrupted as the lights went out and suddenly a video featuring none other than Kenny Omega was shown. The Best Bout Machine then issued a challenge to Yota Tsuji for the world title, a championship Kenny Omega knows well from having held it in a superb run from June 2018 to January 2019.
After this video, Yota Tsuji told us that Kenny Omega had once been the pioneer of a new era in NJPW and undoubtedly is among the best wrestlers in the world, but if he wants to face him for the title, he will have to come to Japan.
No sooner said than done, Yota Tsuji’s wish comes true a few minutes later, as Kenny Omega arrives and goes after him, finishing the assault with the famous One Winged Angel, leaving the crowd perplexed and angry.
Kenny Omega then takes the mic and says that Yota Tsuji has no class, before directly addressing Hiroshi Tanashi, telling him to ensure the match is organized in case the champion refuses.
No official announcement yet regarding the attire as well as the venue of the bout, but all signs point to Wrestle Kingdom in 2027 as a favorite for a match of this caliber, even though in a post-match interview, Kenny Omega floated the idea of a match on November 3rd in Hiroshima, adding that Oleg Boltin, who was also attacked, would be involved.
