Kota Ibushi has shared the unfortunate news that he will undergo a second surgery on his femur.
Indeed, the AEW wrestler announced that he will go under the knife once again because doctors want to remove his current femur implants and replace them with sturdier plates. Ibushi says he is disappointed by the news as he will have to restart his rehabilitation.
His full statement on Instagram :
“I am hospitalized starting today. Tomorrow, I will undergo a second femur operation. They will remove all current plates to replace them with the strongest possible option, because doctors have said mine were simply too weak for my body and my leg. Why now? It makes absolutely no sense to me. I am so exhausted from having to undergo surgeries in succession. But I won’t give up. I refuse to let something like this end my wrestling career. I will ensure that this operation is a success and I will absolutely be back in AEW!”
As a reminder, Kota Ibushi underwent surgery in October 2025 due to a leg fracture suffered during a match against Josh Alexander after tripping outside the ring.
His return was originally scheduled for October 2027. It remains to be seen whether this second operation will alter the timeline. Nevertheless, Ibushi refuses to give up and still hopes to return to action.
