They may be completely absent from AEW shows, but they have resurfaced in ROH.
Indeed, the Motor City Machine Guns made an appearance on ROH’s ring during the tapings of several shows that took place on September 28, 2026. This marked the first opportunity to see Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley since their mysterious exit from AEW programming.
The Motor City Machine Guns had their start in AEW before taking a leave of about a month. The duo hoped to wrap up their remaining indie dates before signing with AEW full-time, but they chose to appear at this Detroit show in their hometown to announce their signing. They then wrestled their first match on AEW Collision on September 5, 2026, and there has been no word since.
At present, it remains unclear why Sabin and Shelley have once again vanished from AEW programming. However, it appears their current destination may be AEW’s ROH division, at least for the time being.
Are the Motor City Machine Guns not finished with their schedule on the independent circuit? Or has AEW simply not laid out any plans for them? Only the future will tell.
