In Mexico, a referee has died after taking a wrestling move.
This incident occurred during a wrestling show promoted by El Patron Espectaculous on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. In the main event, the wrestler El Hijo de Fishman faced Mascara Sagrada. During this confrontation, El Hijo de Fishman delivered a Double Underhook Piledriver to the referee, Gerardo German Pineda, also known as “El Buho.” The referee did not get back to his feet, and when the medical team arrived, he showed no signs of life.
The 36-year-old wrestler, El Hijo de Fishman, was arrested following the death of Gerardo German Pineda.
The wrestling company states that legal proceedings are ongoing. It “deeply regrets this loss” and “expresses its solidarity to the family, friends and colleagues” of Gerardo German Pineda.
