It’s only a matter of time before the Paramount-Warner Bros merger gets underway.
A topic generating a lot of speculation about AEW’s future, given that the organization is currently broadcast on Warner Bros and Paramount carries UFC. Some imagine that the TKO group could step in to block AEW’s future on the Warner network.
Today, it is directly AEW’s boss who commented on the subject via his social networks. Just ahead of Dynamite on September 23, Tony Khan weighed in on the merger, stating that in his view it will allow AEW to become stronger. Here is his full statement, in which he also highlights his friendship with Paramount’s director :
”I’ve never hidden it, I’ve said it and repeated it countless times: I can’t wait to see the moment when, I hope, Paramount and Warner Bros are united. I think this will make AEW stronger; I’ve said it many times, and I believe we’re very close to that moment. Speaking of Warner Bros, they’re here tonight for Dynamite.
This is fantastic news for AEW and for our fans to see the leadership of the great David Ellison arriving. I’ve said and repeated: he is someone who loves professional wrestling and loves sports. He is someone I’ve worked with in the context of the National Football League, whether for NFL Films or today with CBS and this great partnership with the NFL. He is a great television producer, a great film producer, and someone who, in my view, will be a wonderful leader for Warner Bros, just as he is for Paramount.”
Tony Khan remains confident about AEW’s future despite the incoming leadership change at the American broadcaster.
We must not forget that Warner Bros has been airing AEW since day one and has allowed AEW to secure a financially stable contract on a major network in the United States. Warner Bros also owns a minority stake in AEW.
The conclusion of this matter will surely come in the coming years once the merger is established.
