Tony D’Angelo will have to defend his NXT Championship against three challengers at NXT Heatwave 2026.
During the NXT on August 18, 2026, Cruz Montana and Grayson Waller demanded their title match, claiming they were robbed by Zilla Fatu’s interference. The two argued their case, and the General Manager Robert Stone settled the matter with a Triple Threat Match, but that wasn’t all.
Indeed, Robert Stone then came to the ring to formally sign Zilla Fatu to NXT. A contract stipulating that Fatu would have as his first match a shot at the NXT Championship. And his choice is simple: NXT Heatwave.
His decision means the Triple Threat Match has transformed into a Fatal 4-Way Match. Tony D’Angelo will defend his title against Zilla Fatu, Grayson Waller, and Cruz Montana.

The three new NXT stars managed to qualify for this championship match in a very short span. The rest of the roster should take note.
