On this August 24 RAW, we were treated to two exceptional semi-finals!
The night began with the most unpredictable matchup of this tournament: Dragon Lee faced the Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix in Ottawa in this semifinal. The two luchadors sized each other up from the start with their acrobatics. The AAA champion had dominated the early portion of the contest. But the former AJ Styles partner had an answer, naturally… After a sensational match (as one might expect), Rey Fenix sealed his ticket to the final thanks to his stunning Mexican Mustle Buster. After this compelling face-off, the two men showed each other respect.
The pressure is immense for the fearless man… After having watched his brother qualify for the final a bit earlier in the evening, Penta absolutely needed to defeat La Parka to secure his ticket to the final. But while fans thought the former Intercontinental Champion would have little trouble beating his opponent, the latter defended himself very well. Penta spent a lot of time on the mat. The Penta Driver wasn’t enough to pin La Parka. Yet the Mexican Destroyer would prevail over the Skeleton: Penta qualifies for the final and will face his brother. After the bout, Rey Fenix indeed joined his brother to face him. This match next week will be obviously in the spotlight.
